IME, "Full Stack" development is more common than specialization.....

Granted, my view is probably fairly narrow, but particularly in smaller companies, it's a luxury to be able to hire someone that's just going to work on part of a system.

I'm definitely what you would call a full stack developer: I work on web and windows applications, back end services, and database stuff, along with a little bit of mobile and cloud dev. Same is true for my coworkers at this company and my former one.
