...and he’s written about the culture and its local manifestation (way different than the “pachuco” culture in LA) quite a bit. It’s really deep, lots of pride without being provincial or racist, and heavily family-oriented by and large. My mom tried to warn me off going, thinking it was going to be Albuquerque gangsters in droves. Nothing of the sort... lots of cool people and happy kids. The cars are obviously works of art with hundreds of hours in each one. Would love to have a 64-72 Riviera done up/slammed without hydraulics.
