Toyota's lawyers were able to severely limit the scope of the class action suit, so people who bought 1998-2004 trucks that rusted prematurely were out of luck. Toyota only covered 2004-2007 models I believe.

Buddy of mine had a 2002. The truck ran and drove nice. He kept it washed, maintained and garaged and the thing looked immaculate. Not a speck of rust on any of the body panels.

But it had softball-sized rust holes in the frame. Toyota wouldn't do anything. Told him it was his fault for not keeping it clean.

He sold it and bought a new Nissan last summer.

Normally, it's the body panels that rust through while the frames last forever, so they clearly did something wrong in the manufacturing process.
