As info comes out, it sounds like Leonard wanted the Clippers from the start, he just wanted a partner to come with.

I have a sort of grudging respect. I'm sad and a bit hurt that he wasn't willing to stay, but it's not like he led anyone on, really. He was clear last year he wanted to go to LA, and even during celebrations there was a lot of "you guys, Toronto" type language, which I remarked at the time sounded a lot like him holding his emotions at a distance.

In the end, Toronto was able to offer him more money and a Championship roster, and he took less to go home. Can't really fault someone for wanting to play at home, especially when they were pretty clear about it from the start.

This feeling of "we won, but we definitely won't win next year" is weird and shitty though.
