Could be. Well maintained, models with that specific engine are fairly reliable.....

But if you’re unlucky, it’s not going to be cheap if you aren’t comfortable DIYing. Experienced hands on a BMW or Mini never cost me less than 140 an hour (2002-2008).
A friend had a wagon of this era (E9X, this is the E90 sedan, coupe is E92, wagon is E93, vert may be E91) and it was a lemon. He went back to an E46 generation (2000-2006 I think) and was much happier. Mostly electronics gremlins, which is something that plagues Kyle’s M5/M6 of this era fwiw
The engine to avoid in these is in the 335i or xi. Twin turbo that had many issues throughout the production cycle. This is the naturally aspirated model, less shit to break.
“Don’t overplay. Don’t overplay. Less is more. It will always be: less is more. Nobody is ever going to remember all those fancy solos - even the guys that play them, most of them won’t remember - so play some licks that people can walk away humming, that people can identify with." --Steve Cropper
