Painfully beautiful. Don’t know what it is about the way some chords and melody lines resolve, but a few songwriters have figured out how to skip the verbal center and head right for my tear ducts. Usually lyric independent, sometimes it just makes it worse

- Over the Rainbow (wife watched the other night and I got an unfortunate reminder)
- If I Fell and Yesterday by the Fab Four
- Sweet Baby James
- The Story (Brandi Carlile)
- Cattle Call (Eddy Arnold)
- Any number of Mozart female duets
- My Favorite Things (yeah, that one)

“Don’t overplay. Don’t overplay. Less is more. It will always be: less is more. Nobody is ever going to remember all those fancy solos - even the guys that play them, most of them won’t remember - so play some licks that people can walk away humming, that people can identify with." --Steve Cropper
