Asking because my office is still stuck on the mindset of "the project folder must be on-premises". I think part of the reluctance to embrace cloud storage comes from a distrust of letting another company manage and directly control our "trade secrets".
But from my perspective, it would be great if we could get all the project data into the cloud, because then the firm would be able to take greater advantage of the cloud-based tools we have, like O365. One of the stumbling blocks to their adoption of Teams, for example, is the fact that you can't link directly to files on the network shares.
Glenn imparted these words:
Speed, not an issue BUT we are on a FAST fiber network. Usually over 500 up and down. My CAD stuff is not on it yet but will probably move to it soon. I have a meeting in 15 minutes with the University Advancement dept for a furniture design for an office and I moved the files to Google drive to access them over there. Speed will not be an issue.
