And you get this screen with some variation on:

Look, I'm a heavy tipper when I go out to eat or drink. Former server of food and booze and I tended bar for extra money into my 20s. My old man is the same way, and we try to make up for our server's shitty tipper of the evening; I know I always got at least one a shift.
But gratuity for my coffee that was already $4.50 bc organic and fair trade and all that? Before you even pour it? And right here in front of you when I spin it back around? Awkward. And probably that way on purpose. And $5? Why are you giving me that fucking option? A 100+% tip? JFC.
What tipping really is, as if needs to be repeated, is restaurants being able to skirt minimum wage and shifting the onus for paying people what they're worth onto the customer. I've dined out a fair bit overseas, countries where tipping is MAYBE the loose change if that doesn't include pound/euro notes. And that's if you were special.
Food and service are at least as good in those countries, and though more expensive, not any anywhere close to what meals cost with what we're basically expected to tip as a starting point.
