Now not all POS software is configured the same, so mileage will certainly vary.

However, I've noticed on a lot of POS systems (particularly the Clover station, which is quite popular because it's so easy and fast), that after you enter a suggested tip or say "no tip" or "custom tip" or whatever, there are a couple buttons that are intended for the cashier to tap, but you can do them yourself before you swivel the touchscreen back around to the barista.

Not sure what they're labelled (something like "accept" or "apply"), but the extra taps will dismiss the screen showing how much (or little) you tipped.

Takes the whole interface back to "new transaction," so the barista can't then peg you as a shitheel because you didn't tip $4 on a $3 coffee.
