They've made testing free for all in LA County, with priority for frontline employees.

It is a drive through setup, and basically they hand you a kit to swab yourself in the back of your mouth for 30 seconds. Garcetti even has an instruction video. Painless, though still a bit unpleasant.

For the hospital, which requires much better sensitivity, everyone gets nasopharyngeal swabs. See the picture for reference. Everyone tells me it sucks.

If you are asymptomatic, the sensitivity of oropharyngeal swabs isn't great from what I can tell... maybe 80% at best (which means 20% false negatives on the low end). The nasopharyngeal swab administered by a nurse has much better sensitivity.
