Been waffling a while on this one, thought I might end up getting the Gretsch G5420T, but I'm afraid a Jag is just too appealing: Short-scale, weirdo electronics, floating trem, that painted headstock.
It takes a grand away from my car repair and all that, but birthdays mean something to me and I'd like to have a little memento vs "I got my car back on the road."
Really looking forward to this, haven't bought a new axe for myself since 2005 or 2006.
Fender Vintera (Made in MX). Has the 60s neck versus the "modern C," standard/trad electronics vs the cheaper "Player" which has a single coil in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge which can be split. I fully expect I'll mod the electronics on this one to be like the Johnny Marr signature, but out of the box, this was the configuration I wanted.
Considered a Squier, but couldn't pull the trigger on an Indonesian guitar (Poplar vs Alder, Indian Laurel vs Pau Ferro fretboard) having no experience with them. My Mexicaster is the best guitar I've ever owned.

“Don’t overplay. Don’t overplay. Less is more. It will always be: less is more. Nobody is ever going to remember all those fancy solos - even the guys that play them, most of them won’t remember - so play some licks that people can walk away humming, that people can identify with." --Steve Cropper
